Hetzner Object Storage is S3-compatible storage priced the Hetzner way. It is strict about one thing many clients get wrong: the region in the request signature has to match the bucket location, or you get an unhelpful error.

The Hetzner tile in DockBird sets the endpoint pattern https://<location>.your-objectstorage.com and defaults the region to fsn1. Change both to nbg1 or hel1 if your bucket lives there, paste the S3 credentials from the Hetzner Cloud console, and connect.

How to connect

  1. Press ⌘N or click the plus next to Servers in the sidebar.
  2. Choose the Hetzner tile.
  3. Fill in: Name · Bucket (leave empty to browse all buckets) · Region · Endpoint · Access key ID · Secret access key · Initial prefix.
  4. Click Save, then double-click the server. Approve the host key or certificate prompt if one appears.

Why does my other client fail with a signature error on Hetzner?

The signing region must equal the bucket location (fsn1, nbg1 or hel1). DockBird’s preset sets it correctly.
