DigitalOcean Spaces on the desktop

Spaces is S3-compatible. DockBird’s preset supplies the endpoint pattern, so a Space is a folder on your Mac within a minute.

DigitalOcean Spaces is the object storage next to your Droplets, with an S3-compatible API and an optional CDN. The web UI is fine for a handful of files and tedious for a deploy.

Pick the DigitalOcean tile, enter the region prefix from your Space’s URL (nyc3, ams3, sgp1 and so on) into the endpoint pattern https://<region>.digitaloceanspaces.com, and paste a Spaces access key from the API page in the control panel.

How to connect

  1. Press ⌘N or click the plus next to Servers in the sidebar.
  2. Choose the DigitalOcean tile.
  3. Fill in: Name · Bucket (leave empty to browse all buckets) · Region · Endpoint · Access key ID · Secret access key · Initial prefix.
  4. Click Save, then double-click the server. Approve the host key or certificate prompt if one appears.

What goes in the Region field for Spaces?

Leave the preset’s default; Spaces ignores the signing region as long as the endpoint is right.
